Office Updates

Our community has been through a lot over the last few months, and all of us are looking forward to resuming our normal habits and routines. While many things have changed, one thing has remained the same: our commitment to your safety.

Infection control has always been a top priority for our practice and you may have seen this during your visits to our office. Our infection control processes are made so that when you receive care, it’s both safe and comfortable. We want to tell you about the infection control procedures we follow in our practice to keep patients and staff safe.

Our office follows infection control recommendations made by the American Dental Association (ADA), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). We follow the activities of these agencies so that we are up-to-date on any new rulings or guidance that may be issued. We do this to make sure that our infection control procedures are current and adhere to each agencies’ recommendations.

You may see some changes when it is time for your next appointment. We made these changes to help protect our patients and staff.

Cosmetic Dentistry

When you think of us, what is the first thing that comes to your mind? Do you think of routine dental exams, complete with X-rays, dental cleanings, and possibly dental fillings?

Many of our patients are surprised to learn that there are so much more than preventative and restorative treatment options available to them when they come to visit us here at Carolina Smiles Family Dentistry. Any cosmetic concerns that you may have with the appearance of your teeth and your smile can be addressed when you set up an appointment with us. Some of the many dental health services that we offer to our patients include teeth whitening, porcelain crowns and veneers, and clear dental aligners.

What is Cosmetic Dentistry?

Some people may think that cosmetic dentistry is exclusively an elective and cosmetic procedure, but the fact is, just because the treatment does address cosmetic concerns does not mean that it does not impart health and restorative benefits.

Cosmetic dentistry is a term that describes any dental procedure that can improve the appearance of your smile. While it can provide you with an immediate boost to your self-esteem and confidence, in many cases, it can also help with the condition of teeth that may be weak, damaged, or otherwise impaired.

Teeth Whitening

Getting your teeth whitened professionally at our office can help you have a brighter, whiter smile without all of the dangerous side effects that you may find with over-the-counter teeth whitening treatments. We use only professional grade whitening products in our office, and we are careful in the application to avoid damaging your gums and dental enamel. Many of our patients notice several levels of improvement after having their teeth whitened with us.

Porcelain Crowns

Also known as caps, porcelain crowns can help improve the condition of a tooth that may have serious damage to it from tooth decay or injury. It can also help make the shape and size of a tooth more uniform, and they can reinforce a tooth that has been worn down by bruxism (tooth grinding) or even acid erosion. They look and feel natural and can help save a tooth that may otherwise need to be extracted.

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers can give our patients an immediate boost in their self-esteem. When you have teeth that are severely stained and are resistant to whitening, a porcelain veneer can cover these unsightly stains and make your smile more beautiful. They can also help with teeth that may have gaps and spaces between them, chips or cracks, or uneven size or shape.

Invisalign® Clear Aligners

For patients who need orthodontic work, but are resistant to traditional dental braces, clear aligners may be exactly what they need to fix mild to moderate dental concerns. Clear aligners are subtle and discreet, making them ideal for both professional adults and self-conscious teenagers. They can help treat problems with an overbite, open bite, and even crowded teeth.
